:{SIX MONTHS LATER…}:
Following our monster mash-up Halloween party :{LITTLE THRILL}: we’re back once again with the ill behaviour to bring you a massive May Day Bank Holiday bonanza, :{LITTLE ILL}: Unplanned Afternoons is collaborating with several promoters to prescribe a Doctors and Nurses party so surgically unsound, the General Medical Council will be quaking in their scrubs. This is no accident, it is an emergency – we want medical, surgical, in-patients, out-patients, matrons, midwives, neurology, urology, psychiatrics, anesthetics, obstetrics, gynaecol… everything.

:{SPECIAL GUEST SONIC SURGEONS}:

MICHAEL MORPH:
www.myspace.com/michaelmorph
We’re indecently excited to welcome this DJ and producer, with recent releases on Pure Mint, Sound Of Spectrum and Cubic. He’s also a highly experienced proctologist and renowned for his warm hands. His very fat indeed new single, ‘The Crowd C’est Beau’, has been remixed by LongRange (Phil Hartnoll from Orbital) and Aquasky:
www.pure-mint.com/artists/michaelmorph.html

JULIAN COALESCE:
We’re also thrilled to the bits to welcome the legendary Julian4play, aka Julian Coalesce. Back in the day, the Coalesce parties wrote the book on high quality, underground musical madness and Julian was at the centre of the maelstrom. Resident DJ at the splendid Rude Not 2 parties in Brixton, Julian’s music is hard to label; a sense of freestyle dance constantly being pushed to new and astounding levels by a highly experienced and fearsomely talented DJ.

In addition, we’ve got EIGHT DJs from Pigeonhold, Unplanned Afternoons, Passion and more, playing a mentally unstable mixture of music, which probably ought to be sectioned. Starting with 60s and 70s rock and pop, Motown, 80s pop trash and indie, moving through house, breaks, electro, funk, disco and ending up in a straight-jacket. Anything to get you off the gurney and dancing, waving your bed pans in the air like you just don’t care.

The exact location will be revealed nearer the time, but we’ve been diligently searching for a great warehouse venue and have found one of the finest north London can offer. There will be not one, but TWO rooms of tunes, an unnecessarily huge, £20,000 turbo sound system, a fully functioning bar, visuals, projections, cloakroom, medical check-ups from our friendly staff and cab numbers to ensure you all return to your wards safely (although you won’t make it back before lights out). No restrictions – smoke where you like, dance where you like, do what you like. Rather conveniently, there’s a public holiday on Monday 5th, so you won’t need to consider calling in ‘sick’ on the Monday, due to an overdose of fun. And, for those that know Nikki ‘Dr’ Wood, it also happens to be her birthday weekend, so come and help her celebrate her *cough* 26th birthday (once again). Dr Wood will also be making her DJing debut with Nurse Borrett and partying in her own inimitable style. And, yes, this involves glowsticks. Big, throbbing ones, with their own pulse. Oooooh, Matron!

So, if you’d kindly step behind the screen and take your clothes off, we’ll be right with you. Don’t worry, we’re trained Doctors and licensed to ill.

Following our cracking third birthday party :{UNPLANNED ALLNIGHTER}: last month, we’ve got another big shindig for you this Saturday. After three years in London, we’re packing up the Unplanned Afternoons mobile disco for a day beside the seaside and to celebrate 30 years of Love Music Hate Racism. If you fancy joining us and you do that Facebook thingo, please rsvp and say something enthusiastic here:

:{LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM}:
www.lovemusichateracism.com
On 30th April 1978, the infamous Anti Nazi League/Rock Against Racism carnival took place, with a march from Trafalgar Square to an 80,000-strong carnival in east London’s Victoria Park. The Clash famously performed with Sham 69’s Jimmy Pursey, as did the Tom Robinson Band, Steel Pulse and X-Ray Spex. The event was an iconic moment, both for the anti-fascist movement of the time, and in UK music lore. It politicised many for a lifetime to come. LMHR will be marking the 30th Anniversary of the RAR/ANL carnival with events around the country.

:{THE HAMPTON}:
www.drinkinbrighton.co.uk
A stone’s throw from Churchill Square, The Hampton attracts a lot of regular faces, yet its stylish, Scandinavian-style ’70s décor is a long way from a standard, English, locals-only boozer. The beer garden is a particular attraction; a daytime sun-trap that’s equally comfortable in the evenings thanks to halogen heaters. They serve a fabulous pub menu as well as a Sunday roast, while the drink selection is augmented with Harveys and a good range of wines. The Hampton has free wifi access and you can always do a self-portrait to add to the ones on display from various regulars.

What have you got planned when the school bell rings on Friday? Microwave chicken tikka for one, endless repeats of Friends on E4 and a cheap bottle of pinot grigio? I don’t think so. I’ve got a far better idea: collar a couple of chums, launch yourself in the general direction of Old Street, sashay gently down City Road to The Eagle, get on the good foot and do the bad thing. Please feel free to drop in and loudly exclaim at the bar, “blimey, Charlie, bless my ears if this isn’t the phattest dope ever laid down on wax”.
