:{JOHN ARNE RIISE}: Pumpkin Power Has Left The Building

:{SAD FRIDAY}: the melancholy mistress of Happy Friday

JOHN ARNE RIISE
:{JOHN ARNE RIISE}: Pumpkin Power Has Left The Building
I can barely type through the tears. Black armbands all round for my little squashed cucurbita. And, I still want to know-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, how he scored that goal.
[‘Thanks For The Memories, John’ from LiverpoolFC.tv]
[‘AS Roma Sign Riise From Liverpool’ from BBC Sport]

Italian Serie A club AS Roma have signed Norway defender John Arne Riise from Liverpool for £4m. According to Roma’s website, the 27-year-old has signed a four-year deal after Liverpool had given them permission to discuss personal terms. Left-back Riise signed for Liverpool in 2001 and helped them to the FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League titles. Roma, who will play in the Champions League next season, have been targeting Riise for some time.

Riise, who notched up more than 300 appearances for Liverpool after moving to Anfield from Monaco seven years ago, played second fiddle to Fabio Aurelio for much of last season after the Brazilian established himself as the club’s first choice left-back. When Aurelio came off injured during last season’s Champions semi-final first leg against Chelsea, Riise replaced him only to score an own goal in stoppage time.

Last year, Riise was involved in an infamous spat with former team-mate Craig Bellamy after a karaoke night on a team bonding trip to Portugal. Bellamy was fined £80,000 by the club for his involvement and stated he had “lost control”.

:{TENORI-ON}:

TENORI-ON - Toshio Iwai

:{TENORI-ON}:
Media artist Toshio Iwai and and Yu Nishibori of the Music and Human Interface Group, Yamaha Center for Advanced Sound Technology, have collaborated to design a new digital musical instrument for the 21st century, TENORI-ON. A 16×16 matrix of LED switches allows everyone to play music intuitively, creating a “visible music” interface. It consists of a hand-held screen with a grid of LED switches, any of which can be activated in a number of ways to create an evolving musical soundscape. The LED switches are held within a magnesium frame, which has two built-in speakers located on the top of frame, as well as a dial and buttons that control the type of sound and beats per minute produced. For DJs & producers it is a unique performance tool enabling them to perform using MIDI and load the TENORI-ON with samples to ‘jam / improvise’ within their set BPMs.

:{Woman ‘married’ to Berlin Wall for 29 years}:

From Telegraph.co.uk
[Click this to see Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer’s website]

A woman with a bizarre fetish for inaninimate objects has revealed she has been married to the Berlin Wall for 29 years. Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer, 54, whose surname means Berlin Wall in German, wed the concrete structure in 1979 after being diagnosed with a condition called Objectum-Sexuality.

Mrs Berliner-Mauer, whose fetish is said to have its roots in childhood, claimed she fell in love with the structure when she first saw it on television when she was seven. She began collecting “his” pictures and saving up for visits. On her sixth trip in 1979 they tied the knot before a handful of guests.

While she remains a virgin with humans, she insists she has a full, loving relationship with the wall. Mrs Berliner-Mauer, who lives in Liden, northern Sweden, said: “I find long, slim things with horizontal lines very sexy. “The Great Wall of China’s attractive, but he’s too thick – my husband is sexier.”

While the rest of mankind rejoiced when the Wall, erected by the Soviets in 1961 to halt an exodus from East to West Berlin, was largely torn down in 1989, its “wife” was horrified. She’s never been back and now keeps models depicting “his” former glory. She said: “What they did was awful. They mutilated my husband.”

She is said to have shifted her affections to a nearby garden fence. Objectum-Sexual or objectophilia is feelings of love, attraction, arousal, and commitment for a particular object. The mere thought of a relationship with an actual human being seems ludicrous.

Digitonal are ace - they played a lush set at The Firegathering Festival a couple of weeks ago and they’re generously giving YOU a FREE gig on Saturday lunchtime, previewing new material from their forthcoming album, ‘Save Your Light For Darker Days’. As Andy from the band explains: “we’re bringing the full band back together for a very special gig at the Union Chapel, Islington alongside SonVer. It’s a daytime gig so note the time (Midday kickoff!). We’re on around 1pmish.”

After Digitonal, I’ll be quaffing a couple of cheeky snifters with birthday boy, Baby Ben, then I’m off to the Emirates with my mate, Tall Paul, to see THE BOSS:
