This smells massive to these ears. ‘Counterpoint’ is the debut single from Manchester’s Delphic and will no doubt encourage a hundred hacks to start talking up an indie dance revival. It’s still slightly surprising to find them on stalwart, Belgian, dance label, R&S Records:

but that kind of credibility, allied to Radio 1 endorsement, festival dates and support slots with Bloc Party, Friendly Fires and press darling du jour, Little Boots, is pretty handy. ‘Counterpoint’ is produced by Ewan Pearson, the man responsible for a cracking remix of Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy The Silence’ - amongst many other things:

Plus, Delphic are inviting fans to remix the tune:

The beats race so fast, you feel duty bound to offer drummer, Dan Theman, a drink and the euphoric, arpeggiating melody has already sent the words ‘summer anthem’ scurrying across my mind.
